Stand By. . .

Okay, So Apparently I Lied...

The college semester has come and gone, without seeing a single update to Nyuterran Chronicles. The trouble isn't that I simply don't want to do it anymore (I do, I really REALLY do!). The fact is that I've been sinking more and more into a depressive state over the course of the year, and this in turn has caused my motivation drop, until reaching the point I'm at now... Basically lacking enough of the motivational driving force to be able to continue this comic. Actually I've stopped drawing all together, and as you might imagine I'm not doing so well in school either.

In any case... I really don't know what to do at this point... I mean, I've started seeking out medical help, but it hasn't yet had much if any effect in renewing the motivation needed for me to pursue my passions...

In any ANY case, the reason I decided to post this is because I felt that those still visiting this site deserved an explaination as to the lack comic updates. So, know you know! But don't worry... I won't be like this forever... will I? So Nyuterran Chronicles will return, one day (hopefully in the not-so-distant future).

Ping Ping

Ping Art: Ping Teo's Art Journal

Above is a rather interesting art-related project from the rather (in my opinion) talented Ping Teo.

For those of you who don't know, Ping is the author behind the comics The Jaded & The Longest Sojourn.

Oh, and as for my own comic: Yeah, I'm really sorry for the lack of updates. I'm probably not going to make another Major update until I've moved into the college dorms (which is in about three weeks), I'll try and get SOMETHING up.

In other news: Keenspace, the hosting service for this page, has officially changed its name to "Comic Genesis," or Comicgen for short. The move, which was first announced last fall, is the result of brand confusion between keenspace & its parent site, KeenSPOT.

While this means the old *.keenspace.com urls are out of date, "'Genii" Comic artists have been given a choice of new urls for their sites. This includes the obvious "*.comicgenesis.com" and "*.comicgen.com", along with "*.toonspace.com", "*.stripspace.com"**, and umm *cough*"*.webcomicspace.com"*cough*. Also, a number of Genii, including myself, have decided to purchase domains and park them on at our Comicgen service (Comicgen offers this feature).

**Come to think of it, addresses such as this are only available by request of the owner (in this case, cjburgandy)

Also, to any Genii/Spacers (or potential comic artists looking into this free hosting service):
I've adding a couple Comicgen-related tutorials to the Extras page. These tutorials are about adding functionality to your comics, as well as taking full advantage of the services given to you. I hope you find them useful!

Finally, got a question? Good! I could use some more content for the new FAQ section. (Of course I'll only add questions that I can predict other people will ask at a later time!)

You'll notice some changes to the site.

I revised my index and archive html, and added some new content.

Actually what happened was that, for whatever reason, I can't access Deviantart. This is a problem, as I had no where else to upload my other art. So after waiting almost a month for whatever problem to be resolved, I decided to create an onsite gallery. In the process, I managed to get myself carried away, resulting both the site revisions... And a lack of comic updates. (I code by hand... Its time consuming).

On the bright side, the new pages do contain some content (nothing too spectacular, but hey). Also, besides offering another way to leave comments, the shoutbox will allow me to make quick announcements... even when the keenspace ftp is down (unlike this news page)

PS Some of the revisions were inspired by Joel's tutorial on Comic Website Design.

They finally arrived..

The search party that is. Ugh!

As I mentioned in my rant above, this comic took longer to than I'd expected. The two biggest problems were the crater and rocket thrust:

For the former I'd hoped to find some reference I mean, we've been to the moon several times... So you'd think there'd be at least one picture with a large crater viewed from the side. Couldn't find one. So even after playing around with it, the results are less than stellar.

As for the thrust... I just couldn't give it as much 'energy' as I would have liked. Ah well.

In other news, I finally got my domain set up:
I've been tossing around the idea of getting a domain almost as long as I'd been brainstorming this comic... Their not nearly as expensive as they used to be... So with the announcement that keenspace would be changing its name (and subsequently its domain), I went for it! (That is, I bought the domain).

I had actually bought the domain several weeks back, but only got around to PMing Kisai (one of keenspace's admins) a few days ago...

Lets see.. what else? Oh yeah: The comic Starbored is updating again. If you've never read it, go check it out now! Though Starbored's story to this point is little more than a succession of parodies (from countless sources), it still manages to ensnarl you in its comedic genius.
